Jones Insurance Agency HR Consulting is seeking a dynamic Service Manager on behalf of our client, Ditch Witch.

Ditch Witch is a construction equipment dealership that represents the full line of Ditch Witch equipment – including horizontal drills, vacuum excavators, trenchers, plows, and mini skid steers along with Yanmar Excavator and Trac Loaders. We are a full-service dealership that provides equipment sales, rentals, parts, and service to customers across many different industries.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

Job Type: Full Time

Compensation and Benefits: Salary starting at $65,000 plus based on experience

Summary

The Service Manager is responsible for leading and directing the service department, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery for our customers. This role involves the daily management of service technicians, overseeing the estimation process, serving as the primary customer liaison, managing work orders, providing accurate cost estimates, scheduling service appointments, reviewing completed work, coordinating with the parts department, processing warranty claims, maintaining service records, resolving customer concerns, and staying informed about product and service information, all while ensuring compliance with company and manufacturer guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or business administration education preferred.

· Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a service manager or customer service role, in heavy equipment, construction, or automotive industries required.

· Experience with service management or dealership management software is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Ability to create accurate and detailed work orders and estimates.

· Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems related to heavy equipment.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry systems.

· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, customers, and other departments.

· Problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Essential Functions

· Responsible for the daily management and supervision of a team of service technicians, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery to our customers.

· Oversee the estimate process, ensuring the creation of clear, competitive, and accurate service quotes for clients.

· Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the service department, ensuring clear communication about repairs and maintenance.

· Open and manage work orders, documenting customer concerns, technician findings, labor hours, and parts used.

· Provide accurate cost estimates for repairs and services, obtaining necessary approvals from customers.

· Schedule service appointments and coordinate with technicians to ensure efficient workflow.

· Review completed work orders for accuracy before invoicing and customer pick-up.

· Communicate with the parts department to ensure necessary components are available for scheduled repairs.

· Process warranty claims and handle manufacturer communications regarding service-related issues.

· Maintain accurate customer service records and history in the dealership’s management system.

· Assist in resolving customer concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently.

· Stay informed about Ditch Witch equipment, service procedures, and dealership policies to provide accurate information to customers.

· Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently stand, bend, stretch, and walk for long periods of time. Vision requirements include color vision, reading a computer monitor, managing a cellular device. The employee must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Work Environment Work is frequently performed inside a temperature-controlled facility. Level of noise varies in this fast-paced, busy work environment.
