What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Aide I position at Jones Memorial Hospital?
Statement of Purpose:
To assemble and transport patient trays, clean and sanitize china, silver and glassware; to prepare and mix ingredients for salads, beverages, sandwiches, desserts and similar cold dishes.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs various duties related to food preparation, for example:
a) Obtains ingredients for food preparation as required. Washes, cleans, peels, dices, shreds, and slices fruits and vegetables.
b) Prepares beverages and sandwiches.
c) Garnishes salads and mixes sauces and dressings. Arranges salads and desserts in an attractive manner.
d) Prepares servings of desserts and cuts pies, cakes, etc.
2. Performs various duties related to tray assembly and transport, for example:
a) Sets up tray assemble line prior to serving and assists in the portioning and serving of food for patient trays.
b) Transports or assists in the transporting of, patient tray carts from the tray assembly area to patient floors; returns carts to designated area.
3. Performs duties related to cleaning and servicing, for example:
a) Cleans and sanitizes assembly line; washes dishes, silver, glassware, and trays from patient floors and dining areas; cleans bowls, pans and utensils.
b) Loads and unloads automatic dishwashing machine. Stores clean dishes, utensils, etc. in prescribed containers. May remove trash from work site. Completes HACCP documentation daily.
4. Maintains a clean orderly work area.
5. Safety Practices followed and Universal Precaution Work Practices used through out.
6. Americans with disabilities act standards are enforced within our work area.
7. Develops and/or supervises the analysis of patient information and interpretation of data to provide an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age related needs and provision of care.
8. When Staffing needs dictate, may work an alternate shift.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalency.
EXPERIENCE: One month or BOCES Certificate.
CONTACTS: Frequent contact with employees within department. Regular contact with outside departments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands, walks and stoops most of day. Lifts, pushes, and pulls light to heavy weights most of day.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in well-lighted, but warm and humid area. Frequent exposure to routine kitchen hazards.
