What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operating Room Technician II position at Jones Memorial Hospital?
Under the direction of the RN in charge of the surgical team the OR technician assists in the provision of nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in gown and gloves, creates and maintains as sterile field and passes instruments to members of the OR team. Provides preoperative and postoperative care under the direction of an RN.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires High School diploma or equivalent, plus graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with current NYS License and registration as LPN or be a Certified Surgical Technologist by nationally accredited credentialing organization or have completed an appropriate training program as defined by NYS regulations at hire. Non-certified individuals must obtain certification within the latter of 12 months of hire. Reference: New York State public health law section 2824. LPN must have at least 6 months Med/Surg nursing experience; three months operating room experience preferred.
