Marine Superintendent (Longview, WA)

Primary Responsibilities
- Safety
- Compile, manage and interpret cargo documentation from multiple sources
- Plan the timeline and gear, equipment and materials requirements for cargo operations
- Hire longshore labor based on contract, customer and company requirements
- Manage Longshore supervision to maximize safety and efficiency
- Interface professionally and courteously with customers and industry partners in person, by phone and in writing
- Communicate operational details to internal and external customers
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency in all applicable safety rules and regulations
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency in the ILWU labor contract
- Continually strive to improve operational processes to increase safety, quality and efficiency
Skills & Experience
Ideal candidates will have skills and experience in many of the following areas:
- Logistics and / or maritime industry
- Lifting gear and rigging concepts
- Heavy equipment
- Microsoft Excel & Word (or similar)
- Intermediate math
- Union labor relations
Other Requirements:
Eligible candidates must:
- Be willing and able to travel to various seaport locations from Everett to Portland on occasion
- Own a reliable vehicle and possess a valid, state issued driver’s license (mileage for travel outside of area is reimbursed)
- Be willing and able to work outdoors, day and night, weekends and weekdays, in all weather conditions
- Be able to climb ladders, stairs, ship’s gangways
