Job Description

The Floating Community Manager provides short- and long-term support to properties across the Jones Street Residential portfolio as operational needs arise. This position is not assigned to one specific property but instead serves as a flexible resource to provide leadership coverage during staffing transitions, vacancies, onboarding periods, or special initiatives. In addition to performing the full scope of Community Manager responsibilities, the Floating Community Manager also supports cross-functional projects and assists in documenting operational best practices and processes.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role that requires adaptability, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of Jones Street Residential’s operational standards. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently across multiple sites, quickly integrating into existing teams, and maintaining high performance and customer service expectations across all properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as interim Community Manager at properties in need of temporary leadership coverage.
  • Ensure day-to-day operations meet company standards, including leasing, maintenance coordination, resident relations, and financial management.
  • Support onboarding and training of new property team members, reinforcing company policies, systems, and expectations.
  • Partner with regional and corporate teams on special projects and process rollouts, including contributing to the documentation of standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor property performance and implement strategies to improve occupancy, resident satisfaction, rent collections, and NOI.
  • Serve as a role model for Jones Street’s culture and values, building strong, service-oriented site teams.
  • Manage vendor relationships and site-level budgets while ensuring timely reporting and compliance with company protocols.
  • Participate in due diligence efforts and transition support for new acquisitions or dispositions, as needed.
  • Perform unit inspections and oversee property-level compliance, safety, and curb appeal standards.
  • Maintain flexibility in assignment duration and location, responding to portfolio needs as determined by the SVP of Property Operations.

Qualifications
  • 5 years of residential property management experience, with at least 2 years in a Community Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive operational results, and uphold high customer service standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Yardi or comparable property management software.
  • Experience with 40B or other affordable housing programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly, sometimes on short notice, and adapt to new environments and teams.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently across diverse locations.
Benefits
  • Medical, Dental & Vision
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
  • Short Term & Long-Term Disability.
