Boring Line Operator-1st shift

The Boring Line Operator operates the boring line. Individual is familiar with its safety features and guidelines. Individual has a keen eye for quality. It also involves the upkeep and maintenance of the entire boring line area. Individual also coordinates and works closely with the upcoming shift to determine any needs that may arise regarding changeover.

1. Starts up and shuts down of the machine.
2. Understands the programing of the boring line along with how to locate and maneuver the programs needed to operate the machine.
3. Understands the machines codes or is able to learn this.
4. Changes bits and able to re-order bits or sharpen bits
5. Communicates with QA/Lead to review parts or quality issues.
6. Conducts basic maintenance on the boring line.
7. Is familiar with all emergency shut offs and stops or resets.
8. Understands and follows the enhanced dispatch list.
9. Switches the machine between melamine and birch.
10. Enters in ECO's and puts in maintenance requests.
11. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job.

1. May be responsible for training others on the machines' operation.
2. Other duties as assigned.

• Mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent understanding of the metric system as well as the metric tools necessary to operate the machine.
• Good communication skills required to ensure communication between shifts.
• Ability to read CAD drawing preferred.
• Prior CNC machine experience preferred.
• Full understanding of all gluing procedures or ability to learn.
• Basic knowledge of our support system, i.e. Fourth Shift, dispatch and plus.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner.

Production positions are physically demanding and may be strenuous. They are standing positions and include frequent walking, lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. There are a lot of body movements, including extending arms, grasping with hands, and flexing of wrists. There may be a lot of bending and twisting. Each position requires ongoing rotations of movements and workers must have the physicality to perform the essential functions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
