Title: Respiratory Care Instructor
Term: Full-Time

Location: Franklin Technology Center – MSSU, Extension Campus
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by USDE; If Bachelor's Degree is not complete, must be completed within 10 months of hire.
- Valid RRT credential and current state license;
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a RRT with a minimum of one (1) year in clinical respiratory care;
- Experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program preferred. Instructor status for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP preferred.
- Must obtain MO/DESE teaching certification within the first two (2) years of employment.

Summary
The Respiratory Care Instructor must demonstrate the following:
- Deliver theory and skills training through direct teaching and demonstration of skills.
- Teach the course curriculum as outlined by FTC and DESE.
- Build knowledge and develop medical skills.
- Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
- Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained
- Communicate effectively with students, and all affiliated with the course.
- Responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
- Provide an environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and medical-based concepts.
- Perform other duties assigned.
- Emphasize workplace readiness skills.

Essential Job Functions:
- Communicate effectively with adult students.
- Provide student academic counseling as needed.
- Document student competencies.
- Ensure confidentiality of student records.
- Effectively monitor, instruct, and evaluate students in clinical settings.
- Identify and maximize utilization of available learning opportunities in the clinical settings.
- Act as a positive respiratory care role model to students and peers.
- Teach a portion of the curriculum of the Respiratory Care program.
- Collaborate with the Respiratory faculty to develop, implement and evaluate the curriculum for the Respiratory Care program.
- Participate in the recruitment and retention efforts for the Respiratory Care program.
- Participate in the Respiratory Care Advisory Committee for the program.
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education to provide adequate laboratory and clinical experiences.
- Teach certifications of BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
- Carry out all other duties as assigned.
