Misc. Elementary Band at Welby Elementary

Teach concert band instruments from beginner level up to intermediate. This includes teaching students how to play the instrument and how to read notes. Band instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium/baritone, tuba, percussion (bells/snare pad/auxiliary percussion). The band meets before school from 7:40 to 8:30 AM Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for sectional rehearsals as needed. Rehearsals and sectionals are organized and carried out by the band teacher. Concerts are held twice each year (Holiday and Spring) with an accompanying assembly for the host school (Welby) with additional assemblies at other schools if that school has a significant percent of band participation or if the school desires it for band recruiting purposes. There may be other concerts as well (hosted by the middle school for recruiting or combined with other elementary school bands in the district) throughout the year. The concerts are planned and carried out by the band teacher in cooperation with any other teachers (band, orchestra, choir, etc.) who may be involved.
