Job Summary
The Library Clerical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Director. The individual is responsible for the circulation tasks and procedures. This position serves as a receptionist/greeter for the library. The job includes monitoring the use of public computers, answering questions, and assisting users to find materials.
Principle duties include opening and closing the library. The person will provide service in a positive, helpful, and friendly manner. Additional duties include checking library materials in and out along with shelving returned materials. The individual should have some computer knowledge so as to assist patrons with their questions. Other tasks include issuing library cards, taking Interlibrary Loan requests, and processing memorial requests . Lastly, the individual will assist patrons with faxing and photocopying.
Education/Experience
A high school diploma or GED is required. The individual must have at least (2) years of experience in customer and public service. It is also important to have a current Pennsylvania Act 34 Criminal Record Check, Act 151 (Child Abuse) Background Check, and Act 114 Federal (FBI) Background checks.
The position is for 25 hours per week with one Saturday a month to be worked.
