What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Store Manager position at Joseph's Classic Market?
Joseph’s Assistant Store Managers are responsible for assisting the Store Managers with the day-to-day total store operations including customer service, training and development of all store associates, labor management, cash and inventory control, asset protection, store conditions, and performance management.
Routine Tasks:
- Ensure customer service from all associates is up to the Joseph’s standard
- Maintain Joseph’s standards for product freshness and sanitation
- Identify staffing needs, work with Store Manager to properly onboard and train employees
- Follow up on training and people development programs
- Ensure all products and display cases are replenished, maintained, and rotated
- Work with Store Manager on budgeting and achieving company goals
- Assist Store Manager with profit and loss and income statement results
- Responsible for employee safety and store cleanliness
- Assist Store Manager with writing and approving labor schedules, ensuring labor schedules are adhered to and controls payroll costs
- Assist Store and Department Managers with writing and approving orders to be submitted to buyer
- Ensure each department's inventory is properly managed, preventing out of stocks and abundances that lead to waste
- Assist with reviewing and approving period ending inventory counts
- Assist with other tasks as assigned

An Assistant Store Manager performs their tasks primarily in their particular location and may be asked to visit other Joseph’s locations. Must have the ability to clearly articulate the company’s goals and follow up on tasks and projects to achieve those goals. Must be able to resolve conflicts and promote a positive environment where all store associates enjoy coming to work. Work involves walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting products weighing up to 80 pounds. Work also includes frequent interaction with customers and fellow employees.
