Summary/Objective: Responsible for preparing charts, scanning and filing documents into the Electronic Health Record.
Supervision Received: Reports to Office Manager/Team Leader.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Essential Functions:
- Create and maintain electronic medical records.
- Transmits medical information to requesting parties via secure computer.
- Uses computer to track chart inquires, tasks, patient portal requests, medical records, and to access other pertinent information.
- Reviews each chart for accuracy and completion before releasing the chart for a patient visit
- Answers and receives phone calls related to medical records requests.
Education: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited medical terminology course.
Experience: One year of medical records experience is preferred but not required.
Requirements: Minimum of one year of general clerical and computer experience.
Competencies
- Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type simple correspondence.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make simple calculations.
- Skill in using computer programs and applications.
- Skill in using courteous and professional telephone manner.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.

Minimal travel between JWM sites required. Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
