Masters Health Administration (MHA) Intern
Type: This is a part-time position, days and hours of work are subject to change.
Classification: Nonexempt
Summary/Objective: Responsible for completing projects that are customized to the intern’s interest or primary program of study and the needs of the staff directors and physicians at JWM Neurology.
Location: JWM Administrative Office; 6983 Hillsdale Ct., Indianapolis, IN 46250
Supervision Received: Reports to Executive Director.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Essential Functions:
- Communicate call schedules with physicians on a daily basis.
- Process reporting and analytics for business operations in EMR/HER systems at the direction of the Executive Director.
- Distributes weekly physician schedules to contracted hospitals.
- Assist charge entry and patient account representatives with billing and data-entry, as needed.
- Participates in project management at the direction of the administrators.
- Other duties, as assigned.
The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.
Education: Bachelor’s degree and active participation in MHA studies required.
Competencies:
- Skills in Excel, Microsoft Suite products, Adobe products preferred.
- Ability to learn new technologies and software programs.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Organized; sets priorities; meets deadlines.
Travel: Minimal travel between JWM offices may be required. Proof of a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a clinical office setting within a confined cubical area. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is role requires one to sit, stand and walk for 4-5 hours per day. This would require the ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs., open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. This role requires full range of motion, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
