Job Overview:
Joshua Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will teach high school students at various proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced Spanish, while integrating Christian values into language instruction. The teacher will foster a love for the Spanish language, deepen cultural understanding, and help students build the skills to communicate effectively in Spanish, all while connecting their learning to their faith.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Spanish: Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Spanish, covering grammar, vocabulary, writing, reading, speaking, and cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries.
- Christian Integration: Incorporate Christian teachings and biblical principles into lessons when appropriate, helping students understand language as part of God's diverse creation.
- Cultural Awareness: Promote cultural understanding by teaching students about the history, customs, and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.
- Assess Student Progress: Evaluate student work, provide feedback, and guide students in improving their language proficiency.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages participation and growth.
- Collaborate with Staff: Work with other teachers and faculty members to integrate Spanish language and culture into interdisciplinary projects.
- Communication with Parents: Regularly update parents on their child's progress and provide feedback on academic development.
- Extracurricular Opportunities: Organize and participate in school-wide events or extracurricular activities related to Spanish language and culture, such as language clubs, cultural exchanges, or field trips.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with best practices in language teaching and participate in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Spanish Education, or a related field (required).
- Teaching certification in Spanish or eligibility to obtain certification (preferred).
- Experience teaching Spanish at the high school level (preferred).
- Proficiency in Spanish, both written and spoken, with the ability to teach at various levels.
- Strong understanding of Spanish culture and the ability to incorporate cultural elements into lessons.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students, with a commitment to their academic, social, and spiritual growth.
- Ability to integrate Christian faith into language instruction.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Classroom management and the ability to engage students in language learning.
