Job Overview:
Joshua Christian Academy is seeking a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant to support our youngest learners in a faith-based environment. This role is essential in helping create a safe, structured, and spiritually enriching classroom where children feel valued and encouraged to grow academically, socially, and in their walk with Christ.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that align with both academic standards and biblical principles
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning and promote skill development
- Supervise children during classroom activities, recess, meals, and transitions, ensuring a safe and respectful environment
- Help prepare and organize materials and resources for daily lessons
- Promote a Christ-like attitude in interactions with students, staff, and families, modeling Christian values in both word and deed
- Support students in learning daily routines, social skills, and problem-solving in a loving and patient manner
- Maintain open and supportive communication with the lead teacher, fellow staff, and parents
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or coursework in early childhood education or a related field preferred
- Previous experience working with young children in a classroom, daycare, or ministry setting is a plus
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for Christian education
- Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and a servant-hearted attitude
- Ability to follow directions, take initiative, and work collaboratively as part of a team
Spiritual Distinctives:
- Born-again Christian
- In agreement with JCA Statement of Faith and Pillars of Truth
- Active member/regular attendee of an evangelical church
- Applicable Iowa License or working toward it
