Groundsman
Reports to Crew Leader The Groundsman works alongside a 2 to 4-person crew assisting in tree removal, tree pruning, stump grinding, wood chipper operations, and other tree care operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate Joshua Tree Experts Core Values
- Reports to work each day prepared and punctually
- Assists crew daily with vehicle and equipment preparation
- Practice safe driving techniques while traveling to and from job sites
- Safely operates chipping equipment, feeding limbs and brush into machines
- Loads and unloads trucks and chippers with logs, brush, and debris
- Perform various tree and shrub pruning and reduction techniques
- Use proper jobsite audibles and verbiage
- Follows orders from Lead Groundsman, Climber, and/or Crew Leader
- Safely maintains equipment by cleaning, sharpening, and lubricating
- Conduct jobsite setup including but not limited to traffic control, drop zones, and chipping zones
- Actively participate in jobsite safety briefings
- Executes recommendations of Arborist Account Managers in pruning, removing, or reducing for clients
- Use roping and rigging devices safely in trimming and removal operations
- Operates spyder lifts, boom trucks, loaders, power saws, pruning equipment, and other necessary equipment and tools
- Learn to utilize and complete stump grinding operations
- Administer emergency rescue techniques including but not limited to aerial rescue and first aid procedures
- Adheres to Safety Cultures and other related rules and regulations
- Follows ANSI Standards for proper tree care operations
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Minimum 1 Year Industry Experience or Successful completion of 90 Day Probationary Period
- TCIA Ground Fundamentals
- TCIA Chipper Operation Specialist
- TCIA Chainsaw Operation Specialist
- TCIA Tree Rigging and Removal
- Flagger Certification
- EHAP Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certified
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
- Pass DOT CFR-49 physical exam
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Driver’s License with no major delinquencies in the past 5 years
- Experience driving a forestry or bucket truck, is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds for extended periods of time
- Must be able to hear verbal instructions from a distance
- Must be able to quickly remove themselves from potential danger
- Must be able to pull up to 70 pounds
- Must be able to work in all types of weather and at extreme temperatures
- May be exposed to higher-than-average risk of work related injuries and illnesses from exposure to dangerous working conditions, machinery, and heights
