At JOSKO, we expect the new General Contractor (GC) Manager to take full ownership of overseeing construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards. The GC Manager will coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to align all project activities, including scheduling, material management, and resource allocation. Clear communication and strong leadership are essential, as the manager will be responsible for keeping the entire project team informed and motivated to meet project milestones and resolve issues proactively.

Additionally, the GC Manager will be tasked with maintaining the highest safety and quality standards on-site. This includes regular inspections of work progress, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations, and addressing any issues that could impact worker safety or project integrity. JOSKO expects the GC Manager to lead by example, demonstrating strict adherence to safety protocols and taking immediate action when potential risks or violations arise. Attention to detail in all aspects of construction management, from material sourcing to the final walk-through, will be critical to achieving JOSKO's high standards.

Finally, the GC Manager is expected to act as a liaison between the client and JOSKO, ensuring that client expectations are met or exceeded. The role requires not only technical expertise but also the ability to manage client relationships, address concerns, and provide regular progress updates. Timely, transparent communication and a commitment to delivering high-quality work will help reinforce JOSKO's reputation for excellence in the construction industry, while ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Perform general construction tasks including framing, drywall installation, painting, flooring, and cabinetry.
  • Work closely with department managers and property managers to complete projects to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical instructions.

Operate a variety of hand and power tools, machinery, and equipment used in construction.

  • Communicate progress and issues to department managers and director of operations.
  • Timeline Management : Develop and maintain project schedules, proactively identifying and addressing any potential delays or obstacles.
  • Understand scope of work to bid and create estimates for all larger jobs or Project work requested for all trades and receive all approvals / rejections in writing (by whom, title and time / date)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites.
  • Evaluate Project Lead performance and suggest and implement improvements, including our annual review process and policy handbook
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Achieve KPI goals for GC team
  • Track and report status during weekly Leadership Team meetings
  • Report any safety incidents to the management team and the Safety Officer
  • And other duties as assigned
  • KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED :

  • Focus on outstanding Customer Service
  • 5 years previous experience in leading a team in our industry
  • In-depth understanding of general construction
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities through multiple departments
  • 3 years' experience in estimating
  • Strong understanding of multifamily processes and property management contacts
  • Impeccable problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with codes and permitting requirements
