This role is responsible for the timely collection of Scholastic Sales Rep accounts, with the main objective being to improve cash flow and minimize bad debt loss, while supporting the sales effort.

ALL ABOUT FINANCE:
Our Finance team combines traditional financial planning, analysis and accounting with collaborative business decision-making and strategy, directly supporting leadership in Marketing, Sales, Digital & Operations. Team members are expected to analyze data and provide recommendations across our specialized products lines including Yearbooks, Class Rings, Graduation Products and Professional Sports. Through the utilization of best-in-class technical software, such as Workday Adaptive Planning, Incorta, SAP BPC, Oracle, Salesforce, & the Microsoft Suite, you will get to play a critical role in determining financial solutions that steer our business. Our Finance team is comprised of several subgroups, including decision support, FP&A, operations and corporate, but our success is directly related to a culture of cross-team collaboration. ABOUT YOU:
This role is responsible for the timely collection of Scholastic Sales Rep accounts, with the main objective being to improve cash flow and minimize bad debt loss, while supporting the sales effort.
YOU WILL:
- Support. Work with Customer Care, Reps, Sales Management on returns and credit memos. Work with FBA Clerk, Ledger Clerk to coordinate the resolution of account record problems. Work with Finance, Sales Management on whether Sales Rep draws or commissions should cover any shortages.
- Collect specified/assigned accounts. Review collected amounts and stated amounts on the Rep Worksheets. Review account status report regularly and follow up with Sales Reps. Work through year-end settlement of assigned Sales Rep accounts. Respond to inquiries and delinquent accounts with Sales Management.
- Update and maintain. Audit reps as needed on a yearly basis. Perform audits on appropriate accounts including traveling to Reps location. Review collected amounts, stated amounts, inventory, etc.
- Strengthen. Advise AR Manager of serious and/or potentially delinquent accounts and accounting problems in a timely manner. Accurately report specific bad debt by account.
- Typical/expected % of overnight travel. Approximately 10%.
- Drive. Ability to work independently and support customers effectively.
- Technical skills. Working level ability with MS Office suite.
- Great communication skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to be tactful but firm when assisting Sales Reps.
- Experience. 2-3 years of prior collection and auditing experience.
- Education. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
