DATA ANALYST
ABOUT YOU:
Are you a data-driven problem solver who thrives on uncovering insights and building impactful reporting? We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join our Business Analytics team at Jostens. In this role, you’ll collaborate across departments to develop dashboards, curate clean datasets, define user acceptance testing, and deliver reporting that enables self-service analytics and smarter business decisions. YOU WILL:
- Own Reporting Tools and Standards. Serve as the subject matter expert on reporting tools and enterprise analytics standards, creating and maintaining dashboards that drive business value.
- Collaborate Across Teams. Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, refine key business questions, and continuously evolve analytics deliverables to meet changing needs.
- Curate and Transform Data. Clean, standardize, and enrich data across multiple source systems to ensure consistency and usability. Use SQL, Excel, and data integration tools to prepare datasets for reporting.
- Investigate Data Issues. Analyze root causes of data quality issues and inconsistencies, document findings, and recommend solutions for remediation.
- Maintain Data Documentation. Create and update data dictionaries and ensure all reporting definitions, metrics, and calculations are well-documented.
- Deliver Ad Hoc Reporting. Fulfill moderate-complexity ad hoc data and reporting requests that support operational and strategic decisions.
- Enable Business Visibility. Work with stakeholders across the organization to understand their functions and help design meaningful solutions for data analysis and visibility.
- Typical/expected % of overnight travel: Minimal travel. Less than one to two weeks/year.
YOU HAVE:
- Education. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related business quantitative field.
- Experience. 2–3 years of experience in a mid- to large-scale, matrixed organization.
- Database Knowledge. Familiarity with relational databases and a working knowledge of data structures and systems. Preferred, Very Strong Excel skills especially working with pivot tables (Power Pivot a plus), statistical, and financial analysis.
- Technical Skills. Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and Business Objects, with experience using SAS, mainframe systems, or related reporting tools. Preferred. Extensive experience developing and maintaining analytical dashboards and data workflows.
- Analytical Strength. A keen eye for detail, and the ability to troubleshoot data anomalies across systems. Preferred. Ability to take on diverse ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests with varying complexity and scope. Demonstrated application of statistical analysis in creating recommendations and identifying solutions. Including the ability to identify patterns, potential issues, and translation of the same into functional requirements or plans.
- Strong Problem-Solving & CommunicationsSkills. Preferred. Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills while taking a measured and thoughtful approach to difficult situations. Able to effectively present analytic products to business users.
