Direct Support Professional

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with varying needs, including those with disabilities or requiring specialized care. The DSP is responsible for fostering independence and enhancing the quality of life for clients through compassionate care, daily living support, and engagement in community activities. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance, including hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
• Assist with meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met.
• Monitor patients' health and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals.
• Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and inclusion.
• Support individuals with memory care needs through structured activities and routines.
• Facilitate communication between clients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Maintain a safe and clean living environment for clients.
• Document daily activities, progress notes, and any incidents as required.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance clients' well-being.

Skills

• Experience in hospice care or assisted living environments is preferred.
• Knowledge of memory care techniques and patient monitoring practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities.
• Proficient in meal preparation and understanding of nutritional needs for various populations.
• Background in social work or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate records and ensuring client safety.
• Compassionate nature with a strong desire to help others achieve their personal goals.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
