What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Coordinator position at Journey Center for Safety and Healing?
The Housing Coordinator is responsible for housing program implementation and operational oversight of the housing referrals and supportive services within the Domestic Violence Housing First Initiative (DVHFI) at Journey Center for Safety and Healing. The Housing Coordinator will provide direct supervision to the Community Advocates to ensure case management services delivered to clients are carried out in accordance with the agency’s mission and best practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with community housing agencies
- Collaborate with Journey staff and partner agencies to complete appropriate paperwork for program referrals and provide necessary support
- Oversee the case loads of community advocates in accordance with funder protocol while also providing domestic violence, self-sufficiency, financial and tenancy education
- Ensure DVHFI clients receive all eligible government benefits, including SNAP benefits, medical coverage, SSI, CHIP, financial assistance, etc.
- Ensure community and housing services within Journey Center are utilizing evidence based modalities, specifically Trauma Informed Care and The Housing First Model.
- Implement the delivery of Housing and Community advocacy services, including, but not limited to:
- Assign, manage and supervise caseloads of community advocates
- Provide direct supervision to Community Advocates
- Ensure all services operate utilizing a Client/Family Centered Approach.
- Manage and track the timeliness of documentation including RRH applications, assessments, individualized service plans and progress notes.
- Assist and supervise staff’s ability to assess client’s needs, identify options, and assist with goal selection and achievement.
- Provide direct case management services to clients.
- Ensure that all housing and community advocates are inputting data into Osnium both accurately and on a timely basis and auditing records for inaccuracies
- Manage the documentation, maintenance, and termination of community client records to ensure the documented services provided to clients are in accordance with agency standards and funders. Along with the storage of client files to ensure confidentiality and best practices.
- Assist in developing and implementing quality assurance measures to ensure quality service delivery to clients
- Provide crisis intervention, support, and guidance to community advocates and clients in a caring and nonjudgmental manner, as needed
- Provide a supportive environment for clients and listen to clients with a non-judgmental attitude
- Attend and contribute to all agency and community meetings as appropriate for the position

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree or experience working with survivor services or survivors of domestic violence and/or child abuse required
- Experience in non-profit management or providing supervision preferred
- Experience working with victims of domestic violence and child abuse preferred
- Must have and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage; Must maintain appropriate driving record
- Must be available for extended and non-traditional work hours

- Ability to work in crisis environment with a wide range of people from community professionals, police, clients, and volunteers
- Computer skills with word processing, data base, e-mail, fax, windows application capabilities
- Willingness to travel into the community to meet with clients and community partners

- Knowledge with respect to safety issues
- Knowledge of social, emotional, and personal aspects of domestic violence
- Possess an understanding of client centered approach and client self-determination
- Working knowledge of community resources available for adult victims of domestic violence
- Ability to perform job duties with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment
- Thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, functions, procedures, organization, and policies governing the operations of Journey Center for Safety and Healing
- Ability to analyze problems and develop plan of action/correction
- Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks, and consistently meet deadlines
