Position Summary
Journey of Faith is seeking a Bi-vocational Family Pastor to develop and execute a comprehensive program for Christian discipleship of families within our church. This individual will focus on ministering to children, youth, and their parents, equipping them to grow in their faith, build strong relationships, and engage in meaningful discipleship. The primary role of the individual will be to serve as the primary pastor and shepherd of our junior and senior high students.
Key Responsibilities
1. Family Ministry Leadership
- Oversee the spiritual health of the families within the church.
- Integrate greater connectivity between our existing ministry to children, youth, andfamilies.
- Partner with parents to equip them as primary disciplers of their children.
- Provide guidance and support to families facing challenges, offering biblical counsel asneeded.2. Children and Youth Ministry
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate lessons, events, and activities for our junior and senior high students.
- Oversee and support our Children’s Director.
- Coordinate Sunday school, midweek programs, outreach events, and youth retreats.
- Assist with special events such as Vacation Bible School.
- Foster a safe and welcoming environment where children and youth can grow in theirfaith.
3. Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to serve in children’s and youth ministries.
- Ensure volunteers are equipped with the resources and training needed to serveeffectively.4. Church Engagement
- Collaborate with fellow pastors and other church leaders to integrate family ministry into the broader mission of the church.
- Participate in Sunday services and church-wide activities, building relationships with the congregation.
- Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, social media, or other channels.
- Serve as a member of the church’s Elder Board. 5. Administrative Duties
- Prepare and manage the family ministry budget in alignment with church priorities.
Qualifications Spiritual and Personal
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence of spiritual maturity
- A clear calling to pastoral ministry, affirmed by others
- Above reproach in character, following the qualifications for elders in 1 Timothy 3:1-7and Titus 1:5-9
- Committed to prayer, Scripture study, and personal growthEducation and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in family, children’s, or youth ministry preferred. Skills and Abilities
- Ability to inspire and lead volunteers toward a shared vision
- Strong teaching and communication skills, with the ability to connect with all ages
- Organizational and leadership skills, including volunteer coordination
- A collaborative spirit and willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple responsibilities
- Effective in conflict resolution and fostering unity
Doctrinal Alignment
- Agreement with the Journey of Faith, Bellflower doctrinal statement
