Our team is small, supportive, and driven by a shared passion for making learning meaningful and empowering. You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Build this role from the ground up.
- Work directly with our Founder and CEO.
- Shape the future of our programs in the Willamette Valley.
- Teach Journey to STEAM programs as needed.
About the Role: Program Coordinator – Willamette Valley
This is an exciting new role in a new location as we expand into the Willamette Valley region. We’re looking for a self-starter who is excited to build this role from the ground up and grow with us as we establish our presence in the area.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Building partnerships with schools, libraries, universities, and community organizations.
- Coordinating and overseeing programs to ensure they run smoothly and meet the needs of our partners.
- Ensuring program quality by supporting instructors and managing materials.
- Leading outreach efforts to secure new partnerships and grow Journey to STEAM’s impact.
We’re looking for someone who is highly collaborative and has a genuine enthusiasm for STEAM education, as well as working with children, families, and schools. A positive, friendly demeanor is essential to build meaningful partnerships and represent our organization with warmth and professionalism.
Location & Travel Requirements
The Program Coordinator will be based in Salem, OR, with frequent travel throughout the Willamette Valley region, including cities such as:
- Eugene
- Albany
- Corvallis
- McMinnville
- Woodburn
- Dallas
While much of the administrative work can be done remotely, this role requires frequent local travel to program sites and partnership meetings. Daily travel during the workweek is likely as part of outreach efforts, partnership building, and program support.
Additionally, the candidate must be willing to travel to the Portland-metro area multiple times during their first month for training. Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related travel.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives on meaningful work. You’re someone who enjoys building relationships, is comfortable with outreach and sales, and can balance multiple priorities while managing the details that ensure smooth operations.
This is a new role in a new location, and the right fit for this position will be excited to build the role from the ground up — establishing new partnerships, coordinating programs, and developing systems that set us up for success in the region.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in start-up-like environments and is ready to grow with us, rather than expecting everything to be fully established.
