Description
The Maintenance Technician is the perfect role for someone who enjoys working with their hands, constantly looking for solutions, and isn't afraid of new challenges. You will be solely responsible for the maintaining of our facility in multiple capacaties. From HVAC and electrical to painting and plumbing, the Maintenance Tech role makes it possible for Journeyman Distillery to run efficiently and actively pursue improvements.
Basic Function: Primarily responsible for assisting with the management of day-to-day operations of facility maintenance.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and ensure full use of water fixtures.
- Troubleshoot any electrical issues, repairing damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
- Maintain the building HVAC equipment in order to maintain proper facility climate controls.
- Locate sources of problems with mechanical devices in operation through observation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Assist with outside lawn care, when needed.
- Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of lawn equipment.
- Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of distillery equipment.
- Assist with product deliveries and offloading.
- Assist with and maintenance of warehouse cleanliness.
- Assist with supply pick-ups and deliveries as needed.
- Assist as distillery hand as needed.
- Utilize basic carpentry skills to assemble barrel pallets.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep on various properties (change detector batteries, assemble furniture, change air filters)
- Paint interior and exterior walls and structures as needed.
- Assist with snow removal/salt application.
- When in doubt, clarify assigned tasks with Head of Maintenance or on-duty supervisor.
- Perform other functions and routine maintenance activities as directed by Head of Maintenance or the Owner.
Requirements
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL SKILLS:
- Must have ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
- Must have ability to safely operate all tools, equipment and motor vehicles within safety standards and guidelines.
- Must have ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
- Must have ability to use all senses to ensure consistency in work processes.
- Must have ability to operate, clean and maintain all equipment required in job function.
- Must have ability to use hands in a precise and repetitive manner for periods of 8 -10 hours a day.
- Must have good organizational skills and verbal communication skills.
- Must have ability to use logical or rational thinking to solve problems.
- Must have ability to perform moderate physical work; may be required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently and performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping for up to 10 hours without sitting.
- Must have ability to sit and focus on a single task for up to 10 hours.
EDUCATIONAL, DEVELOPMENT AND WORK-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
- A high school education is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of pumps and motors; basic understanding of how they function.
- Knowledge of refrigeration, such as coolers, chillers, and HVAC.
- One to two years training or equivalent experience in facilities maintenance is preferred, but not required.
REQUIRED WORK HABITS:
- Work habits include regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
- Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
- Must be considerate of customers and coworkers and perform work in a manner which causes minimal disruption.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Works indoors in restaurant, office, production, warehouse and residential environments, as well as outdoors in and around all facilities.
- Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement hazards, sharp utensils, extremely hot wax, and dangerous chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have valid drivers license to operate company vehicles.
