Employment Supervisor (Exempt)
Position Description
The Employment Supervisor has oversight of the assigned department(s) and staff to ensure adherence to all policies, guidelines, and regulations. The Employment Supervisor will train, mentor, supervise, manage and support assigned staff to ensure person centered practices are used; that persons supported are safe and comfortable in their homes, community and jobs. The Employment Supervisor is responsible for developing and growing the Employment and MAPS programs. The Employment Supervisor reports to the Day Program Director.
Essential Functions:
- Understands and promotes people supported goals to work in integrated settings as well as personal, dignity, respect, individualism and quality of life
- High level of oversight of all functions related to assigned programs, staff and persons supported, which requires a proactive approach in all aspects of the job
- Supervise, manage, train, mentor, support and advocate for assigned staff, but may include others, to maintain or improve quality of persons supported lives
- Act as role model for assigned staff
- Complete contact notes, monthly reviews, training, and intake and MAPS visits as needed
- Responsible for all management tasks associated with assigned staff, including reviewing and approving time/PTO and performance evaluations and reviews, completed in timely manner
- Ensure all Reportable and Non-reportable events are reported before the end of shift, if applicable
- Ensure staff complete all Reportable and Non-reportable events, documentation, and EMARS/MARS before end of their shift, if applicable
- Oversight of accurate daily documentation by assigned staff to data systems, including EMARS/MARS, with observations, activities and reactions of persons supported in support of the person-centered support plan (PCSP), other plans and billing, as necessary, which may result in corrective action steps for assigned staff who are not in compliance
- Maintain the confidentiality of information related to people supported, staff and Agency files
- Actively participate and/or lead team meetings for people supported through MAPS and Employment programs
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, including Fire and other emergency drills
- Fills in as a job coach or other staff when needed using prompting and fading techniques to ensure job success
- Provide direct support for people supported with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, housekeeping, ambulating, and transferring, etc.), routines, developing job skills, and learning new skills personalized to each person as well as monitoring medical and health related tasks
- Provides opportunities for choice making and identifying and acquiring valued social roles in integrated community setting, including but not limited to membership in local groups, clubs and organizations
- Oversight of various plans (dining, activities, outings, behavior, PT, OT, SLP, and/or guidelines), which may include training, implementation, and monitoring of staff
- Treat all persons supported with respect at all times
- Make initial contact with potential employers to promote diverse employment opportunities
- Provide support to employers to overcome perceived and actual barriers to employing and retaining a diverse workforce
- Complete business tours and informational interviews as requested
- Coordinates all aspects of employment services which includes but not limited seeing people supported through work trials, work experiences, recruitment and selection process
- Coordinates all aspects of MAPS services and completes required billing as necessary
- Coordinate job development and placement
- Work with vocational rehabilitation to complete employment specialist services
- Transport and accompany people supported to job interviews, outings, appointments, etc.
- Assist and support people as they perform their jobs or other responsibilities, when applicable
- Encourage the Autonomy of people supported in making decisions in their responsibilities and their responsibilities of implementing them
- Develop partnerships, networks and Circles of Support to progress the persons aspirations
- Ensure that concerns of families and other interested parties are addressed in timely manner
Other Functions
- Attend training as required, including workshops, forums and events that apply to MAPS and Employment
- Assist Program Director with budgeting and billing to ensure profitability of assigned programs
- Actively participate in Agency committees as assigned
- Participate in hiring of program staff, as required
- All other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- High level of integrity
- Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification, Medication Administration training, Relias, MAPS, ACRE, and other trainings and certifications as required within assigned timeframes
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and objective at all times
- Ability to coach, train/teach staff and persons supported
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Intermediate technical skills (Microsoft products preferred)
- Proficient ability to read, analyze, and interpret applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, critical thinking and planning skills
Work Environment/Conditions
The physical environment requires the employee to be able to sit, stand and walk for periods of time, which vary and to bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds, when necessary. The working environment requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays to complete any necessary task related to assigned departments, emergency situations and be on-call on a rotating schedule for assigned program as required to respond via telephone, or face to face when needed. May require traveling to events, meetings or training sessions. Position is full-time, exempt position based on a 40-hour work week.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (Masters preferred)
- Associates degree with at least 2 years of paid professional experience in area of employment may be substituted for higher degree
- High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of paid professional experience in area of employment may be substituted for higher degree
- ACRE or ability to obtain
- Class D Driver license for State of Tennessee
- Competent in CPR/First Aid
