The Role
We are seeking a passionate and visionary Director of Brand & PR to elevate our global presence, amplify our voice in the higher education and research landscape, and lead a new era of brand storytelling. Requirements:
- Define and evolve JoVE’s global brand strategy across channels to align with business goals, user needs, and market trends.
- Lead JoVE’s PR strategy and external communications, establishing our thought leadership in the scientific and academic community.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Editorial, Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to ensure brand consistency and clarity.
- Identify and activate opportunities to showcase JoVE in higher education, including conferences, media relations, partnerships, and influencer engagement.
- Leverage market insights, competitor analysis, and user feedback to continuously refine messaging and positioning.
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies and trends in marketing, especially AI, and apply them to improve brand performance and campaign innovation.
- Create a proactive press calendar and manage relationships with media outlets, journalists, and external PR firms.
Requirements:
- 7 years of experience in Brand, PR, or Communications, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in higher education publishing, edtech, or related sectors.
- A strong understanding of multichannel marketing strategies (email, web, social, events, media).
- Demonstrated success in leading high-impact brand or PR campaigns across global markets.
- Awareness of the latest trends in AI and its applications in marketing and communications.
- Excellent storytelling, writing, and editing skills—with the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging narratives.
- Knowledge of trending tools, platforms, and technologies in media, communications, and digital marketing.
- A hands-on, collaborative mindset—ready to lead but also roll up your sleeves when needed.
