Job Title: Licensed Veterinary Technician

The ASPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and promoting animal welfare.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join our team at the Adoption Center. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to animals in need, collaborate with veterinarians and other staff members, and contribute to the overall mission of the ASPCA.
Main Responsibilities:
Nursing Care and Veterinary Support (70%):
Provide safe and compassionate environment for animals, staff, and clients using low-stress handling techniques.
Deliver proficient technical nursing skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, sedated exams or treatments, diagnostic testing procedures, triage, and basic examination.
Competently explain animal conditions to staff, volunteers, foster caregivers, and adopters using easily understood language.
Participate in medical rounds and intra- and inter-departmental meetings as an active member of the medical team.
Document and communicate patient concerns or observed changes to veterinarians.
Ensure accurate and timely data entry into animal medical records, including transfer of information from other ASPCA departments' software systems and diagnostic test results from outside laboratories.
Feed and medicate patients following veterinarian instructions and standard operating procedures.
Perform humane euthanasia (training provided).
Learngnew protocols, support, and comply with ASPCA and Adoption Center policies and protocols.
Housekeeping and Maintenance (30%):
Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, and facility while utilizing appropriate PPE.
Follow all PPE and cleaning protocols.
Follow all protocols put forth by Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Follow all written and verbally communicated departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Take inventory and stock supplies as needed.
Assist in keeping supplies stocked by noting when supplies are running low.
Maintain a clean and safe environment throughout the day.
Immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions or hazards.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Veterinary medical concepts, protocols, and procedures.
- Critical thinking and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent low-stress animal handling and restraint skills.
- Able to work efficiently and calmly as a team member or independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including Excel, Microsoft Office, and email.
- Familiarity with PetPoint or other shelter software systems preferred.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required.
- 1-3 years veterinary hospital and/or shelter experience preferred.
- Fear Free certified or completed within 60 days of employment.
Additional Information:
- CPR certification preferred or upon hire.
- Required to perform humane euthanasia (training provided).

Target Hiring Range:
$34.60 - $37.00 per hour, plus benefits package
