JOB SUMMARY:
The Logistics Manager will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the Traffic Department. This position will manage and optimize processes for efficient distribution and logistics flow, ensuring timely delivery of products to customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Traffic/Logistics team
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems and processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping
- Source, evaluate, and manage contract carrier base
- Review and explore technology and process improvements to promote departmental efficiency and effectiveness
- Resolve issues regarding transportation, logistics systems, and/or customer related issues
- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing of traffic services, including tracking billing discrepancies and resolving issues to maintain client satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (FMCSA, DOT, PennDOT)
- Manage and lead a team including traffic staff, dispatchers, and drivers
- Train, motivate, and evaluate team members to achieve productivity and performance goals
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Must have strong clerical and organizational skills
- Must have strong leadership abilities with a focus on coaching and developing successful teams
- Able to read, analyze, and follow directions
- Strong ability to analyze / interpret technical information and form conclusions
- Must be able to speak, listen, and effectively communicate with team members and customers and actively participate in/lead team meetings
- Must have outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Must be highly motivated and able to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Work is primarily sedentary, involving extensive computer systems/software operation and regular use of office equipment
- Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Requires frequent movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading
- Adherence to the company attendance policy is required, which includes expectations of punctuality and limited unapproved absences
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or 5 years of experience in a comparable position
- Knowledgeable in food manufacturing principles and operations regarding logistics
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office
