What are the responsibilities and job description for the Simulation Education Specialist position at Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences?
We are currently hiring for an experienced nursing educator to join our Simulation team as a Simulation Education Specialist (SES) on our Draper, UT campus. The Simulation Education Specialist (SES) is responsible for facilitating immersive learning experiences in the Joyce Johnson Center (JJC) of Simulation for our Nursing and Health Sciences programs and community partners. Serving as an expert in simulation pedagogy, the SES will work closely with the Assistant Director of Simulation and Learning Labs, the Simulation Curriculum Coordinator, and the simulation staff to deliver simulation-based experiences enhancing clinical judgment and decision making. This full-time position is located on our Draper, UT campus.

WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Joyce University.
- Highly knowledgeable in simulation standards and pedagogy, including simulation design, simulation outcomes and objectives, prebrief, debrief, and evaluation methods.
- Responsible for understanding theoretical principles of adult learning and educational processes in curricular design and delivery.
- Facilitates simulation-based experiences using Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™ (HSSOP).
- Knowledgeable in simulation delivery modalities, including high-fidelity simulators, virtual-reality, and virtual simulation.
- Demonstrates knowledge in resources to augment learning such as electronic charting systems, automated medication dispensing devices, audio-visual equipment, and virtual-reality.
- Work closely with the Simulation and Learning Labs Operation Manager and Simulation and Learning Lab Techs to ensure the simulation environment and debrief rooms are ready for the simulation experiences.
- Assist learners with identifying knowledge gaps and provide opportunities for improvement utilizing available resources and tools.
- Provide professional learner feedback after simulation-based experiences, communicating effectively with both the student and the clinical instructor on record.
- Provide opportunities to mentor learners through open-simulation experiences, assisting them to improve their skillset, clinical judgement, and critical thinking abilities.
- Collaborate with the Simulation Curriculum Coordinator and the nursing team to develop additional scenarios, activities, and tools to meet the course learning objectives.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of the simulation center goals, objectives, policies, procedures, priorities, and work standards.
- Promotes and support inter-professional learning activities across programs.
- Provide input in the annual operating budget for the simulation center.
- As needed, operate equipment, and assists with room set-up, tear-down, and moulage.
- Assist with, plan, and participate in regularly scheduled department meetings.
- Assist in the full-accreditation process through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare accreditation requirements.
- Maintain professional growth and development through activities such as CHSE certification, seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to maintain an understanding latest trends in field of expertise, staying current with national and international advances in simulation and clinical skills activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
License: Registered Nurse in the State of Utah (Required)
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing (Required); Doctoral Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Experience: 2 or more years of simulation instruction/management (Preferred)
