We are looking for a Professor of Pathophysiology/Pharmacology to join our General Education (GE) team at Joyce University. As a professor at Joyce University, you will be responsible for teaching courses as assigned on a term-to-term basis, participating in planning, assessing, and strategizing as part of the GE department, and other duties as assigned. Student Focused/Student Centered Approach:
- Interact in a fair and impartial way with students.
- Support and assess student academic achievement.
- Motivate students to further their education and professional development.
- Create a supportive and nurturing learning environment where students feel safe to learn and seek assistance when needed.
- Follow the academic course syllabus for assigned courses.
- Ensure that LMS course is accurate and ready prior to student activity and scheduled course start date
- Post weekly announcements to introduce topics and guide students.
- Present course material in a manner that will interest and motivate students.
- Facilitate virtual classroom sessions and/or lab sessions.
- Prepare and effectively explain homework, projects and tests.
- Maintain class as a safe learning environment in a respectful and inclusive manner.
- Communicate regularly with students including reaching out to students who are not adequately performing in the course and providing encouragement for all students.
- Encourage student input and analytical thought.
- Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner (within 24 hours on weekdays, 48 hours on weekends)
- Provide at least one hour per week of virtual office hours.
- Post grades within 72 hours
- Promptly return graded student papers, if applicable, within 7 days of submission.
- Effectively use instructional techniques.
- Satisfy course learning objectives.
- Enforce the University rules as published in the Student Handbook and Joyce University Catalog
- Confer with Asst. Director of General Education when students are non-responsive or absent from class.
- Submit grades and records accurately and promptly in accordance with the University grading policy and procedure.
- Report any course or University-related problems to General Education leadership.
- Attending meetings and classes on time.
- Cooperate with all faculty and staff.
- Adapt to course assignments and scheduling needs.
- Participate when needed in curriculum and faculty development activities.
- Participation in professional associations and societies
- Active reading and study
- Participation in professional conferences
- Completion of professional seminars or continuing education courses in the teaching discipline
- Study the art and science of teaching through reading and/ or course work.
- Complete in-service activities in accordance with the University's policy
- Experiment with various teaching methods and share the results with colleagues.
WHAT YOU’VE ACCOMPLISHED:
- Required education Master's degree
- Preferred education Doctoral or other professional degree
- Preferred Teaching Experience 2-3 Year
