Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Director for our NEW after-school program. We currently operate a very successful preschool program and are excited to expand our services to the community. This is a 10-11 month position as we are closed in July each year.
Assistant Director (reports to Director, Church Pastor, Preschool/After School Board of Directors) Minimum Education: Bachelor’s or AA degree in early Childhood Development or related field. Minimum Experience: 1 year working as a preschool or after-school teacher.
Educational Requirements
Course Requirement: At least 3 units in ECE Admin and willing to complete 5 more college units in Early Childhood Administrative and Adult Supervision, Family, Child and Community, Child Development, 2 ECE Curriculum courses. Must adhere to Title 22 and all Community Care Licensing Regulations. Bachelor’s Degree preferable in Early Childhood Development.
Responsibilities to include;
Responsible for After-School Program with up to 40 students.
Oversee classroom curriculum planning.
Implement new ideas and higher standards.
Be self-motivated and a good example to the Staff.
Maintain School and Office organization and cleanliness.
Interview and hire staff with Director.
Evaluate staff with Director
Supervise Staff.
Staff scheduling
Conduct tours for prospective parents/enroll new students.
Hold parent conferences as needed.
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
Plan and conduct regular staff meetings.
Organize Staff Development days with Director (2 per year)
Able to step in and teach as needed.
Meet with the Church Preschool Board as needed.
Report building and maintenance safety issues.
Attend annual Workshops and/or Conferences.
Plan events
Follow current practices of NAEYC and the School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale
Market the School
Maintain Staff and Children's Files
Keep accurate records.
Review Menu and post
Manage safety and emergency issues.
Keep open communication with the Church Preschool Board
Know & maintain the school in accordance with Community Care Licensing Regulations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
