What are the responsibilities and job description for the Back-Up Elder Companion and Caregiver position at Joyful Hearts Homecare?
The position as a Joyful Hearts Homecare caregiver entails working closely with members of the elderly community. The caregiver is required to reliably communicate with superiors, clients and clients' families in order to best care for the client. The caregiver’s tasks will differ for each client, but the caregiver’s main goal is to fulfill the mission statement of Joyful Hearts Homecare in all interactions; the mission is to joyfully care for seniors.
The position as a back-up/on-call caregiver would entail working shifts during various times throughout the week in order to cover for other caregivers who have sick time or vacation time. The back-up caregiver would receive the list of open shifts every two weeks and would be required to pick up at least two shifts each week. The caregiver should have availability for short notice shifts as well.
The caregiver must be willing to drive to St. Paul, White Bear Lake, Stillwater, Lake Elmo, Oakdale, Woodbury, Afton, Marine on St. Croix, etc. There is a mileage reimbursement program as well.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Have a joyful and compassionate spirit when you are representing Joyful Hearts Homecare.
- Show clients and their families you are there to care for the client.
- Take extra time to ensure the client and their family that you genuinely care about their well being.
- Respond quickly and professionally if the client or family contacts you.
- Provide timely updates to family members and to superiors about the client's status, if requested.
- Be respectful, polite, and understanding when interacting with clients and their families.
- Communicate with superiors and other employees effectively and professionally.
- Reliability to build long lasting relationships with clients and their families.
Possible services you may need to complete for/with clients:
- Companionship, light housekeeping, meal preparation, memory care, and personal care.
- Services completed vary based on employees and clients.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 30 per week
