What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Mechanic position at JP Logistics & Consulting LLC?
Place of performance: Philadelphia Navy Yard (also known as the Philadelphia Naval Business Center, (PNBC).
Hours of Operation: 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., five days per week, Monday through Friday, except observed Federal holidays.
Duties:
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems utilizing their knowledge of refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatics and electronic control systems, pipe fitting, welding/brazing, and mechanical layouts. Testing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for leaks.
- Performs routine maintenance including repairing and replacing components for entire heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment. The HVAC Technician, or a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician, installs and repairs various air quality systems.
- Locating and diagnosing maintenance problems on equipment, conducting warranty services, and quickly performing emergency repairs on certain equipment items.
- Continuous monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems, and troubleshooting equipment, running tests and completing reports, updating and improving existing systems, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment.
- Perform life-cycle maintenance and servicing on cooling towers, chill water pumps, By-pass valves, flow switches, and chemical feed devices.
- Perform work involved in the repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of heating systems to include gas-fired boilers of up to 2 million British Thermal Units (BTHUs), forced air furnaces, radiant gas heaters, and electric heating systems.
- Perform repair, overhaul, maintenance, and service commercial split systems to include fan coil units, mini splits, variable air volume systems, variable refrigerant volume systems, and direct expansion units with up to 200 tons of cooling capacity.
- Perform work involved in the repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of large industrial air conditioning systems and equipment (i.e., motors, compressors, purge units, expansion valves, solenoid valves, motor cooling systems, transducers, etc.
Requirements:
- 5 plus years of solid commercial HVAC
- Preventative Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pumps and BAS systems
- Organization and attention to detail ability to work efficiently.
- Create and assist with quotes for the client.
- Comply with applicable standards, policies, or procedures, such as PPE, and safety procedures.
- Ability to communicate information sharing, scheduling, work order write ups, quotes, and e-mail.
- Osha 10 Certification
- EPA Universal Certification
EDUCATION:
High school or GED diploma. Graduate of an apprenticeship or trade school.
Must be a graduate of an apprenticeship program or trade school / must have three (3) years of experience performing this type of work at the journeyman level.
Personnel performing work in HAZMAT/HAZWASTE must complete the
HAZMAT/HAZWASTE handling course or have a minimum of one year of experience working with HAZMAT/HAZWASTE.
Maintain personnel certification, training, and licensing records. Certification, training, and licensing records must be kept current and on file for the duration of the contract.
