Job Title: Assistant Scientist

Job Summary:
Thermo Fisher is looking for an Assistant Scientist to join their Analytical Services team in a unique partnership that offers an opportunity to work onsite at a pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical company while maintaining full-time benefits. This position allows for gaining direct experience while providing valuable support to the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in all aspects of the department’s visual inspection program, including preparation, stocking of supplies, inspection of injectable products, and completion of associated documentation.
- Perform visual appearance testing and meet competency requirements within 90 days of hire.
- Complete training and perform various manufacturing operations such as vial washing, component rinsing, container closure integrity testing, and other manufacturing tasks.
- Assist with department consumables storage and stocking programs.
- Perform administrative tasks such as procedure and template revision, records filing, and archiving.
- Work in compliance with cGMP, Standard Operating Procedures, and safety codes.
- Report risks to business and contribute to GMP and safety self-inspection activities.
- Monitor and maintain metrics as appropriate.
- Ensure zero instances of data falsification or data integrity issues.
- Apply basic computer skills such as Word, Outlook, and navigating websites.
- Inspect products for periods up to one hour with small breaks, for no longer than 8 hours a day.
- Wear appropriate gowning when performing manufacturing operations and be comfortable with hand sanitizing and hygiene protocols.
- Follow guidelines on jewelry, makeup, perfume, nail polish, or artificial nails while in manufacturing environments.
- May be required to work occasional overtime hours.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Immunology, or similar fields.
- Prior experience (0-2 years) in a comparable position is preferred, but not required.
- Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training, or related experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of industry regulations and quality policies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
- Ability to lead process improvement initiatives in Sterile Ops and apply professional concepts.
- Experience generating and reporting metrics for Sterile Ops processes.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, in alignment with GSK’s Code of Conduct.
- Strong understanding of current technologies and business processes.
- Responsible for scheduling and planning work to meet priorities.
Working Environment:
- Ability to communicate and understand information clearly.
- Ability to work upright and standing for extended periods.
- Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Capable of working in non-traditional environments, using standard office equipment with proficiency.
- Exposure to potentially hazardous elements in healthcare or laboratory environments.
- Ability to perform well under pressure while prioritizing multiple tasks.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $26.50 per hour
