The Role

As an Associate Director, Medical Strategy, you will combine scientific expertise, critical thinking, and leadership skills to devise, explain and deliver innovative strategic plans. Working as a key part of the senior team, you will work alongside the Executive Director to meet client needs, nurture and develop the team, and help shape the growth of the agency.
This position is a full-time, hybrid role reporting to the London office (Holborn based team) approximately 2-3 days per week.
The Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and oversee the implementation of tailored medical communication strategies aligned with client objectives and market needs.
Optimise plans through deep awareness of the environment.
Client Engagement
Act as the primary strategic advisor to clients, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs and objectives.
Foster strong, long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional service and consultancy expertise.
Project Oversight
Oversee the delivery of high-quality medical communications projects, marketing strategies, and medical education programmes.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of scientific integrity.
Team Development
Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
Support recruitment, training, and professional development initiatives to build team capability.
Market and Scientific Expertise
Stay up to date with emerging scientific and industry trends to inform strategic recommendations.
Identify and pursue opportunities for thought leadership and innovation within the field of medical communications.
About You
Our ideal candidate must have:
Degree in life sciences, preferably to an advanced level (e.g., MSc, PhD, MD, or equivalent).
8 years of relevant experience supporting pharmaceutical, biopharma and healthcare clients to devise and deliver strategic communications plans. Experience may span marketing, medical affairs or a combination of these functions.
Extensive experience in medical communications or related roles within a consultancy or pharmaceutical setting.
Proven ability to develop and implement medical communication strategies.
Strong scientific expertise across multiple therapy areas, with the ability to quickly assimilate new knowledge.
Exceptional leadership, client management, and team development skills.
Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Experience managing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams.
