POSITION SUMMARY :
We are seeking a Communications Low Voltage Estimator to support the growth and implementation of White Space Fit Out (WSFO) projects across a portfolio of fast-paced construction and mission-critical infrastructure projects . This role will focus on low voltage (LV) cost estimation, budgeting, pricing, proposal development, and scheduling .
The ideal candidate will have expertise in fiber optic and data communication copper applications, basket tray, ladder rack, and fiber runner takeoffs , as well as experience in strut and threaded rod take-offs . Strong knowledge of structured cabling, estimating software, and project documentation is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Review and analyze RFP / RFQ documents , supporting requests for information (RFI) related to low voltage and WSFO components.
- Identify project risks and challenges , providing solution-based cost analysis.
- Generate cost estimates and budgets for LV projects, including structured cabling, fiber optics, and data center infrastructure.
- Assist in proposal development , ensuring comprehensive and competitive submissions.
- Maintain an organized database of bid documents for reference upon project award.
- Coordinate with sales, engineering, preconstruction, procurement, and finance teams to streamline project execution.
- Gather and analyze subcontractor, vendor, and supplier quotes to ensure cost accuracy.
- Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs , including fiber optics, Cat6 / Cat6A cabling, conduits, patch panels, and termination points.
- Conduct local site surveys and site walks within the DC, MD, VA region (5% potential travel outside the DMV, but minimal).
- Create shop drawings and assist with change orders during project execution.
- Ensure procurement alignment by assisting the estimation team in ordering correct materials and pricing adjustments.
- Utilize estimation software (On Screen Take Off, Bluebeam, Accubid, RS Means) to develop cost projections efficiently.
