Position : Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the financial operations of the organization, supporting affiliated companies, partnerships, and not-for-profit entities. Under general supervision, this role is responsible for maintaining and analyzing the general ledger, performing month-end closings, and preparing financial statements. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will mentor and review the work of Staff Accountants to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Notes : This is a hybrid role , requiring 2-3 days in the office per week with a salary range of $120,000-$130,000 . The Senior Accountant will report to the CFO / Controller and oversee a Staff Accountant .

Essential Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

CPA preferred .

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial record-keeping, and reporting .

Demonstrated proficiency in GAAP and financial compliance.

Ability to provide exceptional client service with a professional demeanor and handle matters confidentially.

Strong written and verbal communication skills , with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision .

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) .

4-5 years of experience in accounting .

Strong knowledge of accounting software .

Real estate and property management experience preferred .

Exposure to not-for-profit accounting is a plus .

Key Responsibilities :

Assist with day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the accounting / finance department, including budget review and analysis .

Mentor Staff Accountants , review work, and ensure accuracy in bank reconciliations .

Oversee the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions to ensure timely and accurate payments.

Review payroll entries, account reconciliations , and initiate payroll cash transfers.

Manage the processing of cash receipts, revenue, and receivables in collaboration with the operations team.

Review credit card expense reports and monthly reconciliations .

Maintain and update Fixed Asset subledgers , ensuring proper recording of impairments, disposals, additions, and sales .

Prepare audit schedules and provide support to external auditors.

Prepare and review financial statements , management reports, and variance analysis .

Ensure accuracy of financial reports in compliance with GAAP and maintain general ledger systems.

Conduct account analysis and reconciliations , including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany reconciliations .

Coordinate with property managers regarding variance reports, lease activity, and accounts receivable / bad debt review .

Support tax audits and tax return preparation .

Lead annual budgeting processes and prepare investor statements .

Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and policies .

Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.

Handle special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO .

Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
