Job Description

Position Summary :

The Senior Switchgear Technician will be responsible for start-up, commissioning, repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing mission-critical electrical equipment. This role requires a high level of expertise and a commitment to maintaining the reliability and efficiency of advanced systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

To perform this role successfully, the candidate must be able to execute the following tasks satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.

Pre-Sales Support :

Review technical specifications with sales teams and project managers to define the scope of field operations.
Ensure compliance with technical specifications.
Participate in the review of submittal packages.

Factory Support :

Verify equipment specifications to meet facility requirements.

Attend factory witness testing as needed.

Address punch list items before equipment shipment and upon site delivery.

Installation :

Conduct comprehensive discussions on work scope and change order processes.

Coordinate with project stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, and customers.

Provide technical support and ensure proper staffing and scheduling for projects.

Project Management :

Identify labor requirements and develop project schedules.

Monitor potential impacts to project timelines and budgets.

Manage and report on work outside original scope and assist in generating change orders.

Final Turnover :

Ensure proper documentation and resolve issues for final customer acceptance.

Additional Responsibilities :

Coordinate specialized system testing and training for customers and engineers.

Provide technical support, respond to service calls, and perform preventive maintenance.

Share lessons learned and continuously improve project execution processes.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Bachelor's degree in electronics, electrical theory, or a related discipline is highly desirable. Military training may be considered equivalent.

7 years of field repair / customer service experience with electrical, electronic, or related equipment.

Experience with critical power equipment, including UPS, switchgear, PLCs, batteries, and generators.

Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings.

Skills and Certifications :

Strong organizational, communication, and customer relationship skills.

Experience with technical writing, including reports, procedures, and project documentation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.

NETA / NICET Level 2 or 3 certification preferred.

U.S. Citizenship required.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Ability to supervise multiple team members, including hiring, training, and performance management.

Physical Demands :

Requires the ability to lift objects weighing 10-50 pounds and perform tasks involving standing, walking, stooping, and climbing. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Pay Range : $107,000 - $160,886 per year
