This position is an essential part of the team and will have exposure to several aspects of running a Forestry Field Office.
As an Emerging Talent Summer Experience Intern within Campbell Global LLC - a subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase, you will embark on a transformative journey of professional development and learning. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with experienced foresters, actively contributing to forestland management and gaining hands-on experience across multiple forestry disciplines. Our well-structured internship program is designed to provide a diverse array of projects and tasks, all aimed at enhancing your skills and competencies. This full-time program, set to begin in early June 2025 and lasting for up to 9 weeks, guarantees a comprehensive on-the-job experience.
Job responsibilities:
- Assist with harvest unit layout, planning, and administration.
- Assist with silviculture planning and administration.
- Effectively utilize current technologies, including GIS, GPS, drone flight operations, etc.
- Assist with timber cruising, auditing, and regeneration surveys.
- Assist with road construction and maintenance.
- Assist with various ESG initiatives.
- Assist with recreational management activities.
- Ensure that environmental or financial risk reporting is conducted in a timely and professional manner to the Manager and, if appropriate, local Safety Coordinator.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Current enrollment in an accredited College or University working toward an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, or a related degree with a concentration in Forestry.
- Basic knowledge of forestry, forest silviculture, forest inventory, harvesting techniques, and GPS.
- Basic proficiency in MS applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clear driving record, and personal transportation to/from Campbell Global’s field office.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in steep, brushy terrain for long periods of time.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Previous forestry experience desired but not required.
- Completion of Forest Measurements or equivalent class desired.
