The Corporate Responsibility (CR) department mission is to advance a stronger, more durable and safe financial system and an inclusive economy and society for clients, customers and communities around the world. The department includes teams focused on policy advocacy and lobbying, philanthropy, sustainability, public engagement and data analysis and research. Global Philanthropy (GP) consists of Employee Engagement & Volunteerism, Impact Finance, and Grantmaking teams at the national and local levels. 

As an Executive Director, Global Philanthropy, you will lead our financial health and related cross-pillar strategy to promote economic stability and mobility for individuals in the US. You will manage a grant portfolio of approximately $25MM in annual contributions and a team that includes between two and three staff members (inclusive of program officers and associates). You will report to the Head of Programs. Successful candidates will bring in-depth market knowledge, subject matter expertise on the Firm’s pillars (financial health, careers and skills, neighborhood development and small business growth)  and intersectional issues and networks in the areas of economic inclusion to the role, along with strong commercial awareness, and experience working in highly complex organizations.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Design and lead major initiatives, including signature initiatives that address economic stability and mobility through financial health and integrated strategies (connecting financial health, careers and skills, affordable housing, and small business growth) for underserved populations 
  • Identify and engage best in class partners, vendors and grantees to execute strategy and implement key projects. 
  • Collaborate with teams across Corporate Responsibility to enable a multi-faceted economic inclusion strategy that includes timely research, policy insights, impact finance-supported efforts and employee volunteerism
  • Serve as an internal resource and expert with colleagues throughout the firm, including Global Philanthropy, Corporate Responsibility and across lines of business; play a coordinating role across markets, and leverage expertise to support strategies and share lessons learned. 
  • Maintain a commercial mindset with the ability to translate work to business partners in order to create awareness, collaborate effectively, build consensus, and execute plans is critical. Examples include the Financial Solutions Lab, Advancing Cities Challenge, and multi-issue engagements with national non-profit organizations and think thanks
  • Design and host signature forums and events to promote dialogue on and raise awareness for key initiatives and issue areas 
  • Develop and maintain network of professional relationships with key government, philanthropic, nonprofit, corporate and community leaders, including those at senior levels. 
  • Improve awareness and visibility of the firm’s cross pillar and financial health strategy internally and externally, positioning the firm as a thought leader. 
  • Represent the firm and present at internal and external conferences, events, and forums
  • Manage a small team of experienced professionals  
  • Manage grants and expense budgets to ensure that strategy and plans are delivered on time and on budget
  • Contribute to a culture of prudent risk management and adhere to the requirements of the firm’s control environment.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in policy, program development and implementation, public-private partnerships, and/or economic development 
  • Familiarity, experience and commitment to advancing issues of racial economic equity and inclusive economic growth
  • Passion for the Corporate Responsibility mission; deep knowledge of and experience related to the firm’s pillars of economic and social inclusion: neighborhood development, careers and skills, small business growth, financial health and inclusion
  • Creative, flexible and collaborative with an ability to work in a team-oriented environment; demonstrates a high degree of initiative; results-oriented, high level of attention to detail and deadlines
  • Experience in people management and skill set to foster development of direct and matrixed reports 
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with ability to distill and present complex information plainly and succinctly; personal presence to represent the firm in diverse forums and organizational relationships 
  • Ability to represent the firm in diverse forums, with community leaders, advocates and influential stakeholders
  • Domestic and international travel possible as determined to be safe, allowed, and needed

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred
