As a Risk Management - Data Governance - Analyst in Wholesale Risk Chief Data Office (WR CDO), you will be part of a global team, interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders, to implement and execute processes and capabilities for data governance to support compliance with the Firmwide Data Management policies and standards, as well as Regulatory requirements, while also bringing value to the Business. The focus of this role will revolve around strengthening end-to-end data interpretation and metadata documentation and increasing transparency of data flows and data quality. We are on a multi-year journey for a new generation of Data Management, and we are looking for a motivated adept and inquisitive joiner. This role will allow utilizing your experience across Data Management, Finance/Risk, and Technology, while also enabling expanding the breadth and depth of your expertise
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Business users on reviewing critical reports and processes to identify key data elements
- Analyze attributes and datasets and assist in defining Business descriptions and other related metadata
- Maintain glossaries of business terms describing attributes and taxonomies to describe datasets and guide Business and Technology stakeholders on navigating and interpreting internal and upstream glossaries and firmwide taxonomies
- Participate in testing of Firmwide and internal Risk tooling for metadata capture and maintenance
- Assist in defining operational procedures for metadata maintenance
- Contribute to other WR CDO mandates related to the Data Risk Management Policy and Standard, such as:
- Address Data Quality – analysis and remediation of issues related to data accuracy, completeness, timeliness
- Assess Data Use – confirming eligibility for data sourcing by consumers
- Manage Data Protection – assessing the types of data that require restricted access
- Manage Data Storage – assessing localization requirements that require restricted data access
- Manage Data Retention & Destruction – defining appropriate retention periods for the types of the data
Required qualifications, skills and capabilities
- 2 plus years of work experience with focus within data management and financial services
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Information Systems or other related disciplines required
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; intellectual curiosity with attention to detail and ability to earn quickly to assimilate business and technical knowledge
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop effective, credible relationships with colleagues as well as business and technology partners
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with PowerPoint basics and storytelling
- Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing large data sets in Excel (pivots, formulas, etc.)
Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities
- Wholesale Risk Management experience, including Business Processes and Tools, is a plus
- Conceptual understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL will be advantageous
- Experience with business intelligence solutions, such as Alteryx, Tableau, Qlik, is a plus
- Finance related Bachelor’s degree is preferred
