The Cost Analyst is a key individual contributor within the accounting team, where Cost Accounting will be the primary focus. This position will become the subject matter expert and will be the go-to person for supporting standard cost requests, ensuring the accuracy of the manufacturing cost accounting system, and providing analysis to support management decisions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of costing activities. These include but are not limited to:
- identifying and resolving cost and/or inventory errors
- calculating standard cost for new SKUs, as needed
- partnering with various departments to provide analytical support (i.e., cost analysis, variance analysis)
- performing monthly, quarterly and annual closing items (i.e. accruals, reconciliations)
- leading annual budget development and standard cost roll
- leading physical inventory counts/cycle counts for multiple locations
- supporting internal and external audit requests, as needed
- embracing a continuous improvement mindset
- improving the accuracy of cost standards (i.e. models, process changes)
- Promote JPS culture by:

- foster, train and develop backups and be willing to cross train in other functional areas

Key Requirements:
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA/CMA preferred but not required
- GAAP knowledge preferred
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a costing role preferred
- AS400 system experience preferred but not required
- Manufacturing Experience
- Be able to diagnose problems quickly, analyze data, and have foresight into potential issues
- Travel as needed, up to 10%
- Ability to think strategically and adjust to a changing environment
