Job Description:

Job Summary: The Certified Anesthesia Technician I-IV provides anesthesia assistance to the licensed anesthesia staff.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

1. Coordinates medication and equipment throughout anesthesia operations.


2. Maintains, tests, and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.


3. Controls and monitors anesthesia levels during procedures as directed by an anesthesiologist. Administers anesthetic, adjuvant, or drugs as directed by an anesthesiologist.


4. Assists the licensed anesthesia provider with patient assessments, evaluations, transport, positioning, insertion of intravenous and other invasive lines, and airway management.


5. Actively participates in the development and/or administration of continuing education for Anesthesia Technicians.


6. Performs administrative duties that may include employee scheduling, assisting with evaluations and program development, and reviewing service agreements.


7. Performs point-of-care testing in accordance with hospital policy.


8. Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to the established PAR level.


9. Performs clerical functions as required and collects data for unit-specific process improvement as needed.


10. In coordination with OR Leadership, the level IV Certified Anesthesia Tech organizes and coordinates anesthesia support personnel.


11. Level IV handles the most complex issues and works independently.


12. Level IV acts as a resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience.


13. Level IV may lead department projects and provide ongoing support to the department with guidance from OR Leadership.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Current certification as an Anesthesia Technician by ASATT.
• Current JPS recognized Basic life support (BCLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Completion of unit orientation competencies within 90 days of hire.
• 4725 Certified Anesthesia Tech I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4726 Certified Anesthesia Tech II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4727 Certified Anesthesia Tech III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4728 Certified Anesthesia Tech IV: 10 years of relevant experience.
