Job Description
Description: The Clinical RN - Sepsis is responsible for data collection, data entry, and analysis of Sepsis data. This job will also be responsible for review of clinical data for regulatory data submission in real time and identification and communication of trends and patterns in data that will facilitate immediate improvement.
Typical Duties
- Facilitates clinical performance improvement of the Sepsis program including evaluation of current performance, planning improvement initiatives, and ongoing measurement and evaluation of the program.
- Expedites clinical improvement initiatives and adherence to the Sepsis guidelines for development, ongoing review, and implementation of evidence-based improvement initiatives.
- Acts as a consultant to the staff on Sepsis guidelines, initiatives, and data collection. Serves as a resource to the staff and assists with planning group processes, targeting improvement initiatives and strategies and facilitating internal change.
- Collaborates with the Sepsis Coordinator to identify and prioritize key Quality Improvement projects.
- Manages the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of improvement plans.
- Ensures successful implementation of improvement programs integrating clinical and operational aspects.
- Assists with group processes to accomplish project objectives and engages active participation of all project team members including physicians and front line staff.
- Facilitates interdisciplinary and cross-departmental process improvement and reengineering initiatives using appropriate quality tools, methods, and change strategies.
- Assists departments and teams in developing appropriate indicators and measures of performance for the Sepsis program including tools and strategies for ongoing performance measurement.
- Identifies gaps and makes recommendations for process change. Assists with the use of the Rapid Cycle Improvement Process to accelerate change.
- Educates staff on the use of the Sepsis guidelines and uses LEAN strategies, tools, and methods.
- Demonstrates and integrates knowledge of improvement model and framework into daily performance.
- Anticipates customer needs and manages the provision of services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional Nursing.
- 5 plus years of direct patient care experience in ICU or ED.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited University.
- 2 plus years of experience in Quality Improvement or Data collection.
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state.
- Training in Process Improvement Methodology such as Rapid Cycle Teams, Six Sigma, Lean Methodology.
