Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Performs procedures as ordered and obtains images according to written protocols.
- Assists the Cardiologist or designee along with other staff in stress echocardiography and transesophageal echo procedures.
- Performs complex lower and upper venous and arterial procedures along with lower segmental pressures, carotid doppler and vein mapping.
- Positions and immobilizes patient on exam table and observes during scan under direction of physician. Monitors video display of area being scanned and adjusts density or contrast to improve picture quality. Reviews and evaluates computer generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
- Views sonograms, adjusts equipment to obtain images, including color distinctions and distinguishes audible sounds.
- Organizes and accurately performs the individual steps in the sonographic procedure in the proper sequence.
- Performs and documents quality control on equipment according to manufacture guidelines or department protocols; recognizes and takes appropriate action for abnormal results. Reports equipment problems and failures to Bio-Medical or Manager.
- Ensures a safe and clean environment with all the necessary supplies needed to perform studies and procedures in exam room.
- Understands and uses Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities.
- Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
- Ability to work in variable environments and locations.
- Performs routine assignments using existing procedures, and has conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a discipline, typically acquired through technical training.
- Develops competence by performing structured work assignments, and receiving instruction, guidance, and direction from others.

Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university, or Graduate from CAAHEP approved Ultrasound school, or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment is required.
- Current Dual Registry in Echocardiography and Vascular Sonography.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Renal Doppler Training.
- Pediatric echocardiography.
- Ablation training/knowledge.
- TEE experience/knowledge.
- Segmental pressure experience/knowledge.
