Job Description
Job Summary: The Emergency Department Tech I-IV performs various technical duties and tasks which include assisting with direct and indirect treatment and care of patients.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Obtains and records vital signs, I/O's, weights, basic ECG monitoring, venipuncture/IV skills, bedside testing, and documents in the patients record as directed by the licensed personnel.
- Provides emergency first aid treatment.
- Responds to medical emergencies.
- Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
- Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
- Notifies nurse of abnormal findings or changes in patient status.
- Performs clerical functions.
- Monitors patients requiring constant observation and documents as directed.
- Accesses and navigates through Epic.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, plus completion of an accredited medical training program (e.g. EMT-B/I, EMT-P, CMA). Or completion of first semester of accredited nursing program.
- Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or current State of Texas registration (EMT).
- Current JPS recognized BLS– CPR Certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Must have current licensure, certification, or registration relative to the discipline used to qualify for the position and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Completion of Area Specific Competency Based Orientation Program within the first 90 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Level 1 EKG Competency (subsequent to hire).
