Job Description
Description: The Manager of Nursing Clinical Services provides oversight of the Nursing Clinical Services Department. This position directs and coordinates all aspects of the Nursing Clinical Services Department in support of the organizational strategic goals.
Typical Duties
- Directs, develops, and evaluates workflow processes of all Nursing Clinical Services.
- Develops and maintains an effective and productive working relationship with physicians, peers, staff, and other health care disciplines.
- Leads meetings and provides other forms of communication to provide awareness of organization-wide information.
- Directs and oversees the requirements for accrediting and certification through the Joint Commission, DNV, and other organizations as well as the ability to interpret those requirements in support of the development of new certifications as well as recertification of existing programs.
- Mentors staff along with coaching and development to provide direct or indirect supervision/instruction and recommendations/implementation of training for staff with skill deficiencies.
- Directs and oversees performance appraisals, disciplinary action, reports, audits, surveys, and documentation with the department director.
- Interviews, hires trains and evaluates the performance of staff.
- Manages and oversees the orientation and training for employees, which may include, but is not limited to, unit-based, job-specific competencies, CBLs, and assisting with preceptors/mentors’ training and assignments.
- Continues to acquire knowledge individually through participation in continuing nursing education activities and membership in professional nursing specialty organizations.
- Leads development and promotion of system-wide improvement strategies and multidisciplinary team projects through the use of evidence-based solutions.
- Leads Nursing Program staff to submit abstracts for conferences, symposiums, and research fairs to showcase the work of each program.
- Oversees budget and resource allocation.
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the department.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- 5 plus years of leadership experience.
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- 3 plus years of leadership experience.
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state.
- Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Two (2) plus years of experience in quality improvement or data collection.
