Job Description
Job Summary: The Patient Services Coordinator performs administrative duties associated with the general scheduling and patient access of the outpatient clinics.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Calls and answers patient calls over the phone using AIDET principles. Provides information regarding services, JPS location information, and additional assistance as required.
- Discusses and updates current insurance with patients and collects patient owed cost sharing amounts (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, full costs [non-covered/self-pay]) as applicable.
- Reviews referrals for completeness and verifies the status of patient’s eligibility and enrollment status.
- Performs clerical, secretarial, and receptionist activities including but not limited to: wait time management, way-finding assistance, and general customer service for all patients within the outpatient clinic.
- Coordinates the daily scheduling of the clinics and all procedures in conjunction with the Team Leader, Nurses, and providers.
- Makes scheduling decisions as necessary to ensure optimum utilization of EPIC templates and patient satisfaction and preference.
- Resolves scheduling conflicts, provides service recovery, and authorizes modifications as appropriate.
- Coordinates all diagnostic and ancillary scheduling that corresponds to the specialty appointment to expedite patient access to care.
- Maintains daily Epic work queues, quality assurance, texting management and established productivity levels with minimal error, i.e., daily in-basket review, telephone encounters, daily referral and appointment request review, and reporting.
- Assists in the rescheduling of clinic appointments.
- Understands and follows policies and procedures of scheduling, i.e., blocked time and length of visits, on-call schedules, etc.
- Attends all mandatory educational, compliance, and safety program sessions.
- Assists in staff training of peers, colleagues, and management, as applicable or requested.
- Demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the patient/customer through friendly and caring interactions, being attentive to the customer's needs, and taking the initiative to maintain communication with the patient to provide a secure and pleasant experience through JPS Health Network.
- Provides exceptional customer service to patients, staff, and colleagues during all interactions (face-to-face and telephone) with an emphasis on AIDET.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Terminology Course or 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
