Job Description
Description: The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy to Patients under direction of Chief Radiation Therapist and Radiation Oncology medical staff.
Typical Duties
- Performs tumor localization procedures creating shells and molds, etc
- Performs daily linear accelerator warm-up procedures.
- Checks photon beam and all electron beams for consistency. Checks physics components for accuracy of beam alignment.
- Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy. Observes Patients for unusual reactions and events
- Prepares Radiation Oncology treatment blocks and molds to for patient treatment.
- Transfers patients from wheelchairs and gurneys to linac/CT simulator couches
- Participates in the PI process.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited radiation therapy program.
- Will consider graduate therapist dependent on residency experience.
- 2 plus years of experience as a Staff Radiation Therapist in Radiation Oncology Department or Center.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) registry.
