Job Summary : The Senior Applications Analyst is responsible for maintaining an expert level of knowledge of their assigned application's functionality and for combining that knowledge with information technology experience to build and maintain a system which enhances workflows. Responsible for the design, build, testing, validation, implementation, and ongoing support of assigned application(s) while mentoring other analysts. Provides guidance to analysts and customers in support and enhancement of assigned applications.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities :
- Analyzes and completes service requests and provides application support for assigned applications and systems by performing workflow assessments, capturing business needs, and analyzing internal systems to determine functional requirements while mentoring other analysts.
- Details requirements through product development and other functions to support the project team.
- Configures highly complex components based on functional requirements.
- Monitors other business or technical analysts in project software development methods and processes and implementation of those methods.
- Possesses full technical knowledge of most phases of system analysis.
- Evaluates development projects.
- Assists in tailoring the development process to meet the project needs.
- Provides technology direction to business for tactical approaches.
- Provides support to end-users for application configuration and / or in house developed applications.
- Defines scope, aligns expectations, and coordinates activities of an external contractor / firm.
- Provides and directs support to operations / product and development activities (this includes both direct customer and off-hours support).
- Provides on-going support including resolution of application system incidents, root cause analysis of problems, impact analysis, and planning of proposed system upgrades and patches, analysis and development of enhancements to meet changing customer business / clinical requirements.
- Formulates and defines business scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of business and industry requirements.
- Performs functional analysis, requirements, definition and application module configuration and testing.
- Conducts prototypes, develops functional specifications, data mapping, function mapping, setting of configuration tables and setting of transaction / control tables and work queues.
- Identifies and resolves gaps in the business processes. Involved in security / authorization set-up, user documentation, data interface design, data migration and reconciliation.
- Coordinates the installation and tuning of modification, as well as archiving data. This position has master level build skills to develop necessary "workarounds" and new workflows.
- Serve as an application resource to others and internal subject matter expert.
- Works minimal direction from management.
- Fosters team by demonstrating trust, confidence, and commitment in others' actions and decisions to create a supportive work environment. Mentors and trains new lower-level Application Analysts.
- Scopes out and leads medium sized projects, service deployment, and drive simple live cutovers using PMO methodology and artifacts.
