How You’ll Make An Impact
- Enforces existing policies, managing daily operations for the machine build area including planning the use of material and human resources, driving continuous improvement, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of operations using DMAIC and Lean Six Sigma methods and strategies.
- Plans, directs, and facilitates communication between General Manager and Machine Build, Electrical and Fluid Power departments to ensure project tasks and company initiatives are completed on time, on budget, and meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Plays a key role in identifying and eliminating waste from daily operations, driving operational efficiency, identifying opportunities for improving safety, quality, delivery, throughput, or productivity, staying aware of modern technologies and operational methods, to drive customer satisfaction.
- Facilitates corporate and business unit communication to the Machine Build, Electrical and Fluid Power departments per the communication Flow down model.
- Support project managers with planning, status reporting, and rectifying personnel issues. The Operations Manager may need to provide oversight to small projects on the machine build floor that do not require full Project Manager leadership or PEP discipline.
- Establish and maintain a teamwork culture plant wide through leadership, experience, positive attitude, encouragement, and training while achieving business goals.
- Sets goals, monitor work, and evaluate performance data to ensure productivity, efficiency, and profitability expectations are met.
- Set employee expectations, provide feedback, coaching, and accountability to insure employees meet company expectations as needed and during formal performance reviews.
- Work with Machine Build, Electrical and Fluid Power departments to determine staffing requirements interview, hire, mentor, and train new employees while maintaining company compliance and adhering to, company policies.
- To utilize strategic and tactical communication vehicles such as project boards and weekly staff meetings to keep the General Manager informed of the operational objectives of the business unit and responsible for assessing potential issues, safety, and compliance as it pertains to the business unit and the customer.
- Supports the Company’s compliance to federal, state, and local environmental requirements.
- Holds team 100% accountable and provides outstanding coaching and support to ensure every employee is successful while partnering with Employee Relations to identify and support employee issues if necessary.
- Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the BU management team.
- Support applications team and quoting process by giving input on concepts, hours, and material costs.
- In their absence, the General Manager/Business Unit Manager may delegate responsibilities on an interim basis to the Operations Manager including BU Limits of Authority approvals.
- Participate in the annual financial planning process as member of the BU management team to set and meet goals for Orders, Revenue, and EBITDA targets.
- Pro-actively manage floor space capacity on a weekly basis.
- Attend all design reviews for projects greater than $1M.
- Coordinate all SCM and Fab and Machine activity for the build floor consistent with each project plan and PEP.
- Pro-actively develops capital spending plan for shop floor expenses, tools, etc.
- Leverage Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to deliver world class service levels.
What You’ll Bring
- A Bachelor’s Degree; in Business, Design, Engineering or related experience or equivalent of. MS/MBA preferred.
- Experience with statistical analysis and data processing.
- Practical knowledge of budgeting, cash-flow regulation, maintaining balance sheets and monitoring the profit and loss statements.
- Ability to create a good plan and determination to accomplish goals.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good data analysis, planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good leadership qualities with the ability to provide directional knowledge of budgeting, cash-flow regulation, maintaining balance sheets and monitoring the profit and loss.
